Your child was regular to class, completed homework, studied hard and was confident that he had a grip on the material he studied. He went confidently to the exam hall but after the exam he looked sad and low as he could not perform well. He reports that while in the exam he experienced feeling of blank out, freezing up and feeling too nervous due to which he was unable to recall everything that he learnt and was not able to respond to the exam questions. If this is what your child says happens then he/she might be undergoing "exam anxiety", a type of performance anxiety where taking a test becomes the most difficult task for the child. The child often gets distracting thoughts of failure or of inadequate performance.
